As a loyal subject of the Queen and the Crown, I wish Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II Happy Birthday. And may she continue to reign for as long as she feels able to.
God save the Queen.

I’m afraid I must once again disgaree.
Why are you a loyal subject? What has she done to earn your loyalty?
I can understand loyalty to your country, and your countrymen, but to Mrs Saxe-Coburg Gothe?
Don’t get me wrong, I think she does a lot for the country - but loyalty, like respect needs to be earnt.

I suppose being loyal to the Crown is part of being loyal to the country. And I haven’t seen any republican ideas that are remeotely worth their salt. And the Crown is symbolic of more than the politics and Government and the day. If some had their way we’d have Anthony Charles Lynton Blair as President.
One thing though: I agree with ‘God save the Queen’ as a sentiment, but please, oh please get rid of God Save the Queen as the National Anthem. How about having Rule Britannia as an anthem for the whole of the UK instead - it’s imperialist, but who cares? European countries don’t seem too sensitive about it, so why should we?

I prefer “Jerusalem” myself. Yeah, I know, “in Englands green and pleasant land” - the Welsh, Scots and N. Irish won’t like it. Who cares.
Have you heard about Clarke moaning that the media are calling the current administration “authoritarian”.
Henry Porter is on C4 right now.

I don’t know, you do 54 years on the throne and counting and it’s still not enough for some people!
And whose this Mrs Saxe-Coburg Gothe? Mrs Mountbatten I think you mean.
